CryptaPix – Image Editor and Encryption Utility
Review by on
The Briggs Softworks-developed application CryptaPix aims to satisfy two of your needs – the need to view and edit your collection of photos and your need to keep your photos private. How does CryptaPix manage to achieve this? Why by combining the functionality of an image editor with the functionality of an encryption utility.

As an image editor, CryptaPix can resize, rotate, crop, remove red eye, create slideshows, adjust brightness, contract, hue, saturation, luminosity, color, tint, gamma correction, sharpen, blur, and print images. The application provides support for a long list of image formats: BAY, BMP, CRW, CR2, CUR, DCR, DCX, DIB, EMF, FAX, GIF, G3F, G3N, ICB, ICO, JIF, JPC, JPE, JPG, JP2, J2C, J2K, MRW, NEF, ORF, PBM, PCX, PEF, PGM, PIX, PNG, PPM, PSD, PXM, RAF, RAW, RLE, SRF, TGA, TIF, VDA, VST, WBMP, WMF, XIF, X3F.

As an encryption utility, CryptaPix can rapidly encrypt image files using 256-bit AES encryption. This way you can ensure that you and only you have access to those videos. Here are a few other things this application can do:

- Import images from scanners and other twain-compliant devices.
- Copy, move, clone, and rename images.
- Securely delete image files so they cannot be brought back to life by a data recovery tool.
- Hide text, images and other data into an image.
- Create standalone slideshows with encryption and wav audio options.
- Find duplicate images.

Before you go get CryptaPix and put it to the test, there are a few technical details you should take a look at. The technical details presented below:

Download – the download weighs in at 2.3Mb, which is quite lightweight. At such a lightweight download size it will only take a moment to get CryptaPix off the web and onto your computer. To my mind, it’s always nice when you don’t have to wait a long time for a download to complete.
Supported OS – at the time of writing this and according to the developer, CryptaPix provides support for Windows 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP, Vista, and Windows 7.
Limitations – the trial version is limited to 25 uses.

Pros
  • Lightweight download
  • Easy to use
  • View, edit images
  • Encrypt images
  • Hide data into images
  • Securely delete images
  • Works with Windows 7

Cons
  • Free to try
